Dover Under 13’s at the Kent 7’s Tournament
The boys took part in the recent Kent 7’s tournament on a hot sunny Sunday April 18th.
The blues sent a squad of 12 boys to Canterbury RFC containing D Eades, H Sayers, R Godden, J Ricketts, A Moore, C Smith, H Yarnell, R Matthews, J Otto, W Womble, T Castle and A Morrison.
The boys won 2 of their 3 pool matches with victories over Whitstable (46-0) and Thanet B (35-7). They lost the game against the Old Colfeians so moved into the plate competition. They faced Sittingbourne in the quarter final and came out winners 26-12.
They faced the Tonbridge Juddians in the semi-final and despite leading into the break (14-0) eventually lost 21-14.
It was a good performance on a long, tiring, hot day and was the boys’ first experience of 7’s rugby. They went home satisfied with their performance, but nursing a number of cuts and bruises from the hard Canterbury pitch!
