Dover sharks have one final game remaining in what has been a tough season with a very mixed set of results. It started with a narrow loss to this weekend's rivals, Basingstoke RFC, which the Sharks are looking to avenge.
As it stands, Basingstoke are relegated with only 17 points to their name, only managing to put out a side twice in their last four game, including two very heavy home defeats - with a total of 166 points scored against them. The Sharks on the other hand have had a much better run into the end of the season with big wins over relegation rivals Twikenham, and Hove, whilst achieving losing bonus points away against Havant and Charlton park. This has meant that there are only four points separating the last four teams battling it out for the last relegation spot: Gosport & Fareham - 44; Dover Sharks - 43; Cobham - 42; Twikenham - 40.
This weekend's fixture therefore will define the future of the club. Although very unlikely, there is obviously still a small chance the Sharks could get relegated. To get a win will not only secure Dover's position in London 1 South division, but will also make up for the result from the week before, and it will be great to finish on a high in preparation for next season.
Some of the Sharks best results have been achieved at home with the support of the home crowd, and this weekend is even more important than weeks before it. With the home support behind them, the Sharks have put on some stunning displays, so please come down and support us for what will be a great spectacle of rugby!
